Good watercolor is visual poetry; word pictures translated into color images that sing, or sob, as they stir the emotions of the viewer (Robert Wade, well-known Australian watercolor artist).
Russian by origin, Tamara grew up in the Eastern Siberia near Lake Baikal. Prior to moving to California Tamara and her husband Peter lived in Europe for almost ten years.
Traveling through Europe got her started as a watercolor artist. Her European artworks are primarily cityscapes of the picturesque cities and small towns they lived in and visited.
Tamara says art is her avocation, not a vocation. After moving to Monterey California, Tamara started exhibiting publicly in 2009. The fresh subject matter in Monterey County contributes to her inexhaustible excitement and enthusiasm for painting and photography. In California the focus of her work has become the breathtaking coastal scenery and beautiful and dramatic nature, which suits her impressionistic style of painting. She is inspired by the beauty of the Monterey peninsula nature and is compelled to try to recreate it in her paintings.
The unpredictability and uncontrollable nature of watercolor make it the most exciting and expressive medium of all for Tamara. The brilliance and luminosity of this medium produce some of the most exciting atmospheric moods imaginable. For her, watercolor means pleasure, freshness, spontaneity, and freedom. She also loves the speed of execution and happy accidents that can occur with this medium.
Tamara's paintings have been purchased by private collectors from all around the world. She is thankful to have won prizes in several competitions among those is first place in the painting competition "Painting the town" in Monterey. CA. Currently Tamara is represented in the collection of the Venture Gallery in Monterey and the Haute Enchilada Gallery in Moss Landing..
